When Electricity Came to Saskatchewan
In this program, we will learn about the life-changing moment when electricity first came to rural Saskatchewan. Today, we use electricity a lot and most of the time we don’t even notice we’re doing it. We take our lights, washing machines, toasters, microwaves, and TVs for granted. Did you know that some parts of Saskatchewan didn’t get electricity until the 1950s? From lanterns to electric lights, from a coal and wood cookstove to an electric range, from an icebox to a refrigerator, the changes were amazing!
