They got 'em back. The governing Saskatchewan Party swept the three provincial byelections yesterday, re-claiming the seats for Kindersley, Melfort and Swift Current.
Ken Francis won Kindersley with 88% of the vote while Todd Goudy won Melfort with just over 78% of the vote.
In Swift Current, Everett Hindley was the winner, taking Brad Wall's place as MLA with over 70% support.
I don't think these results were unexpected - the Saskatchewan Party held these seats before Bill Boyd and Brad Wall retired and when Kevin Phillips passed away in November. However, I don't think there's any doubt our new Premier Scott Moe and his team will be walking with their heads held high today, having sent a clear message to the opposition NDP. They have a lot of work ahead.
I'll bet they'll be talking about that when the NDP elects a new leader this weekend in Regina. It's more than renewal for the NDP. It's about restoration and reconstruction.
