We are celebrating 95 years on the radio at CHAB.  I've been here for 31 of those years and I've been fortunate to have met some remarkable people, including one special telephone friend.

During my years calling the Warriors games on CHAB, I'd phone her at least once a year - accidentally.  It always happened when we were on the road.  I'd get back to the hotel after the game and file my morning radio reports on the CHAB answering service.  Of course, it was late, usually around midnight when I'd make that call.

You see, I'd reach her when I'd dial area code 303 instead of 306.  She was in Colorado.  Sleeping.  Every time.  She was often annoyed when I'd wake her up and apologize but after the 5th or 6th time it happened, she actually took some time to talk to me.  She wanted to know how and why this was happening to her.  She saw the humour when I explained.  She laughed.  The last time we talked she said, "Well, I'm going back to sleep.  Nice talking to you but it'd be OK if we never talk again."

I think she broke up with me.  I should give her a call.
