It's such a nice time of year for most.  It's Christmas.  We gather with family and friends and celebrate the season.  It's really too bad we have to remind each other to be careful and protect ourselves from thieves but, Christmas time is prime time for criminals.

It reminds me of a story an old fella told me about his son who was working as a police officer in Edmonton on Christmas Day a few years ago.

It was early morning, right after he started his shift, he spotted a disheveled looking man driving an old, beat-up car.  The man drove by the police cruiser and smiled and waved.  The officer smiled and waved back.

Later that night, that young police officer took a call to a break and enter in progress.  He rushed to the scene and captured the culprit.  It was THAT guy - the same guy he saw in the morning.

So, under arrest and seated in the back seat of the cop car, the officer said, "I saw you this morning and you waved to me when you drove by."

The guy said, "Ya, that's right."

And the cop says, "Why did you wave to me?"

And the guy says, "It's Christmas."
