I don't believe I ever ate there but I cam empathize with the Regina people who are missing Lang's Cafe today.  They say it was the best Chinese food in town.  Lang's Cafe burned to the ground this week.  No one was hurt but the restaurant is gone.

I do remember some of the great places our family went to when I was a little boy in Regina.  When my Mom and I caught the bus to go downtown we'd have coffee with my Dad at the Nokia Cafe.  I'd always order me a glazed donut which they served with a pat of butter.  That's right.  Butter with the donut.  No wonder I'm fat.

I also clearly remember special trips to the old Chinese Palace.  Remember that place?  It was on Albert South as I recall.  It was bright and clean and the staff wore matching uniforms.  The food was fabulous.  It was special.

Those times, those places are gone now but we've got treasured memories.  And, you know, I'll bet if you found the right cafe, you could still get a donut served with a pat of butter.
