KAHRS

Jerry Kahrs, aged 77 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Wednesday, July 31st, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife, Erna “Ernie” (Schatz); parents, Henry and Margaret Kahrs; and sister, Helen Hume.  Jerry is survived by and will be dearly missed by his nephew, Alex Hume; family members: Emil and Kathy Schatz, Lorne Schatz, Edith Volk, Lilly and Alfred Keller; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Born and raised in Grenfell, SK on August 19th, 1940, Jerry married the love of his life Erna in their hometown in 1961.  Together they settled their lives in Moose Jaw in 1972.  The adventurous couple shared a love of travelling, dancing, and their passion of fastball and bowling.  Those closest to him will always remember his quick smile and generous heart.  Jerry worked various jobs throughout his life, ending his working career retiring from Safeway after 25+ years.  Some of Jerry’s favourite pastimes included watching baseball and his favourite team the L.A. Dodgers, and curling.  Together, Jerry and Ernie spent watching his “adopted” grandchildren grow-up.  They supported them in all their endeavours.  If there was a sport, play, graduation, or parade, Jerry and Ernie were always there.  Jerry will be sadly missed by his adopted family, The Cox’s: Greg, Sheila, Steven (Larissa), Molly, Eric, and “Papa’s” little girl, Aubrey.  In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, a private service will be held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
