The passing of David Jones Lewis, of Moose Jaw SK occurred on Monday November 22, 2021, peacefully at home at the age of 78. Dave was born on July 15, 1943, in Shaunavon Sask. to Tom and Elsie Lewis. Dave is survived by his wife Marilyn, of 53 years, son Corey (Tracy); daughter Kerri (Anthony); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild (and one on the way); sisters Marlene Hallam, and Doreen White; sister-in-law Pat Hischebett; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dave was pre-deceased by his parents Tom and Elsie Lewis; mother and father-in law Chris and Kate Dixon; brothers Brian Lewis and Warren Lewis; brothers in law Terry White, Rick Hallam, and Rod Hischebett; and nephew Troy Hallam. Dave was raised on the farm in the Vidora and Robsart District and attended school at Ridge Cliff. In 1959 he left school and went to work at the PFRA Community Pasture as a pasture rider first at Reno then at Suffield followed by Nashlyn, from 1965-1996 Dave worked for the Sask. Dept of Agriculture first for the Conservation and Development Branch and lastly as a Livestock Inspector. In 1968 he married Marilyn Dixon of Weyburn, and they resided for awhile in Regina before being transferred to Moose Jaw in 1971. Dave loved the country life and livestock, he was always there to lend a helping hand to friends’, neighbors, and family. He missed being in that little corner of the province, south of the Cypress Hills, it was where he was born, raised, it was where his heart was, and I believe where his soul is now. Dave, liked to kid around and tease and because of this he always brought a smile to our faces. He enjoyed being around family especially his grandchildren and it was hard for him these last few years that he wasn’t able to spend more time with them visiting or going to family functions. We would like to thank the guys on “coffee row” for keeping Dave engaged daily in whatever the topic of the day was! Dave will be missed by all that knew him. Hopefully he gets to finish his ride with his cousin Ken that was cut short that fateful day in 1957. In keeping with Dave’s request no funeral service will be held. He will be laid to rest this spring at the cemetery in Maple Creek with the rest of his family. In living memory of Dave, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd.
