MACCORQUODALE

Ruby went to be with her Lord and Saviour on April 7, 2022 at 93 years of age at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, Sask. Ruby was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Donald Finlay, daughter, Donna Christina, her sisters, Barb Wiebe of Swift Current and Kathleen Toner of Whonnock, B.C.

Ruby was born in Roan Mine in the Big Muddy, Sask. on April 11, 1928 to Minnie Grace Taylor Krumm and Oliver Albert Hewer, the eldest of 4 children.

She will be lovingly missed by daughters Martha (Walter) Engel of Moose Jaw, Barkley (Julie) of Winnipeg and Lamar of Irvine, California; Marianne (Raymond) Aspinall of High River, Alberta, Alisa (Neil) Cinnamon of Estevan, Angela (James) Porelli of Saskatoon and Lyle (Denise) Aspinall of Calgary; son-in-law Neil (Esther) Redpath, Sheldon (Pam) of Guatemala, Marlin of Kelowna, B.C. and Dawneil (Michael) Wall of Caron, Sask.; as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In earlier years she worked as a housekeeper for the MacCorquodales at Ceylon, Sask. where she met Donald. However, she did not marry Donald till later. She moved to work for the Antonini family in Regina until Donald realized he could not manage without the love of his life and quickly proposed and brought her back to Ceylon where they farmed alongside one another. Ruby was a selfless, hard working, loving wife, mother, grandmother & friend. Together Donald and Ruby built a home, landscaping, gardening and enjoying a quiet lifestyle. The man-made dam filled with water was a source of joy with birds, ducks, beavers & muskrats. Their busy life included raising cattle, chickens, turkeys, selling eggs and farming the land. They made commitments to honour the Lord so reading God’s Word, attending church & fellowship with friends was important. Ruby served on a ladies mission group using her wonderful skills in sewing. She sewed a lot of her girl’s clothes and was so selfless in sewing new dresses for the girls that on one occasion she didn’t have a new dress so Don went out and bought her a special one. Ruby’s handwork was amazing, she could make beautiful quilts, knit, embroider, crochet and even tat. Grandchildren can tell you how she taught them to draw, to sew, to bake.

Donald and Ruby retired to Moose Jaw in 1972. There she was kept very busy quilting, sewing clothes and gardening. She loved keeping her hands busy in

many productive ways that blessed her family and others. They bought a truck camper and enjoyed many trips and excursions as well as visiting family.

She left a special love to each one and will be sadly missed and remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
