It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Dorothy (Dot)  Jeanette Staseson (nee Nicoll), who passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years on Sunday, June 17, 2018.  Dorothy was born in Limerick, Saskatchewan on March 30, 1921.  She met her husband, George at a dance in Limerick and it was love at first sight.  They were married on August 25, 1940, moved to their farm near Limerick for 10 years before re-locating to Moose Jaw with their daughter and son.  She was a loving Mother, homemaker, friend and confidant to her family.  Her tireless efforts and generosity in helping family, friends and those in need was widely recognized.   Dorothy was involved in numerous volunteer work, starting with the re-settlement of the Hungarian refugees in Moose Jaw in the 50’s, serving as president of P.E.O as well as the Rotary-Ann’s, travelling to various countries on their behalf.   She enjoyed curling, and golf.  She was an avid painter, quilter, knitter and crochetter. She taught numerous women how to Swedish Weave well into her 90’s.  She especially enjoyed playing cards of any kind with her many friends at the Eaton’s Center in Moose Jaw as well as international travel for bridge.  Dorothy and George enjoyed 15 years of their winter home in Mesa, Az during the winter months and especially loved their time at Buffalo Pound Lake with their friends and family.  She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, George, parents (George and Jean Nicoll) as well as her sister, Peggy (Ernie) Tufts.  Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children, Lois Lane and Trevor (Joan) Staseson.  5 grand-children and 8 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She is survived by her loving sister, Laura (Bob) Schultz, who has been a loving friend throughout her life and care-giver through her last years. The family wishes to thank Dr. Waldner and the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor surgical unit of the Wigmore Hospital. She will be interred with her loving husband, George at the Sunset Cemetery Columbarium during a private family ceremony at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
