Shell Lake’s Brooklin Fry cruised to the Provincial Junior Women's Golf Championship at the Hillcrest Club in Moose Jaw yesterday.....

The 16-year-old won her third provincial title in four years after taking a 10-shot lead into the final round.

She said she was focused on the game more than her lead.

"I wasn't trying to think about my lead. I was just trying to extend it instead of holding it. But I wasn't too worried about it, just focusing on one shot at a time."

Fry had just placed fourth at the Women’s Amateur Championship in Swift Current so defending her junior title was important to her.

“It feels pretty awesome actually, this was my goal going into this year, well half of it. I was going for the women’s too, but I had some trouble with my irons that week. Right after that, I was kicking myself a little bit, so I went to the range every day and worked on myself to get better this week.”

Fry fired rounds of 71, 70, and 75 - good for an 8 shot victory over 2nd place finisher Sarah Grieve of Saskatoon.

The Junior Men's Championship went to a playoff.

Regina’s Hunter Kutcher made a birdie on the first playoff hole to edge Alex Swinnerton for the championship.

The top three finishers in both the junior men's and women's categories have earned trips to the Canadian championships. The women play in Alberta next month while the young men will play in Quebec.
