The Moose Jaw U18 AAA Canucks won their first game of the season Saturday and they liked that feeling so much that they added another right after it.

They won 10-0 over the visiting Parkland Expos in the first game of a doubleheader and then held on for a 2-1 win in the second game at Ross Wells Park.

Canucks Nathan Varjassy drove home two runs in the first game and pitched a complete game in the second one to nail down the win.

"It was good and we just got going after the first one, and kept building on it, so it felt good," Varjassy said. He struck out six while allowing only five hits and a walk to the Expos

Dylan Reed threw a five-inning complete game shutout in the first game. Callaghan, Waller and Reed scored two runs each.

In the second game, Evan Callaghan had a fifth-inning RBI single to get the 2-1 lead, and the Canucks held on. Reed picked up the other RBI in the game.

The Canucks will try to keep their winning streak going Monday when they play an afternoon doubleheader in Weyburn against the Southeast Twins.
