The Moose Jaw Midget AAA Warriors continued their undefeated pre-season with a pair of one-goal road wins on the weekend.

They beat the Notre Dame Hounds 3-2 at Wilcox Saturday and edged the Regina Pat Canadians 5-4 Sunday in Regina in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League pre-season action.

Head coach Trevor Weisgerber, who is in his first season as head coach of the team, has been happy with the way the team's been playing.

“They’ve been good,” he said. “We talked today that we need to shore up some things. We had a great practice today. But as far as the compete and the work ethic, it’s been great. We have a really great group of kids here.”

Weisgerber said it’s been good for his team to get some wins.

“Just getting that experience now is ideal,” he said. “And they’re starting to gel as a team. The more they’re around and doing things together, and... communicating and things like that on the ice, the easier it gets.”

In Saturday’s 3-2 win, the Warriors got all their goals in the third period. Two were from Connor McGrath and the winner was scored by Atley Calvert with 45 seconds on the clock. Chase Coward stopped 24 of 26, and the Warriros outshot the Hounds 48-26.

Sunday, the Warriors got their goals from Parker Jasper, who scored twice, Ben Peterson, Austin Reschny. Coward and Jayden Watterson combined for 19 saves in the Warriors’ net.

Their final pre-season game is Thursday night at Mosaic Place against the Pat Canadians. The game starts at 7.

Their regular season will get underway Sept. 27-28 at the Warman Showcase when they take on the Tisdale Trojans and the Saskatoon Blazers.
