After being forced to cut their season short and send their players home in January 2021, the Moose Jaw U18 AAA Warriors are looking forward to playing a full season this fall.

That being said, the team is still looking for a few extra billet families willing to welcome a player into their home for the season. Trevor Weisgerber, head coach of the Warriors says they currently have four players looking for a place to stay while they practice and play.

"From what we hear from the families who have billeted in the past, it ends up being a great experience for the family," says Weisgerber.

The players follow a full schedule with early morning practices before school and more scrimmages afterward so billet families really only have to provide room and board. However, Weisgerber says that many families take the opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with their billet.

"It's just like bringing another son into your family. A lot of times, it ends up being a life-long friendship, and many stay in touch for years afterward."

Weisgerber adds that it can be very fulfilling to see your billet player develop their skills and work to achieve their dreams. He says the team works hard to cultivate good character traits in their players as well.

"One of our big goals is to bring in character kids into our team. Obviously, they are still young men and are learning how to live but we expect them to be respectful both on ice and off."

The AAA Warriors are bringing back their players on Aug. 31 and Weisgerber hopes to have homes for each of them before then. If you want to learn more, you can call or text 306-690-4248, or email manageraaawarriors@gmail.com.
