The Moose Jaw Warriors got a key part of their offensive attack back over the weekend with Justin Almeida returning from injury.

Almeida picked up a goal and an assist on Friday and two assists on Saturday in back-to-back wins for the Warriors, who extended their winning streak to five games.

"I was a little bit rusty at first, coming off a pretty big break there off injury, so just getting the touch back, the feel back and I had some help from my linemates taking the load off me, so it was nice," said Almeida.

The four-point weekend extended Almeida’s point streak to eight games. He's only been held without a point in one game this season, posting four goals and 27 points in just 17 games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect started on the Warriors' second line this past weekend but quickly jumped back onto the top line with Tristin Langan and Ryan Peckford during Friday’s game.

Almeida said he got more comfortable as the two games went on, "It was just about feeling more confident in your body when you haven't been playing for a while, so just looking to keep improving moving forward," he said.

The Warriors put together two big comeback wins this past weekend, which can do a lot to bring a team together. Almeida says the Warriors are playing for each other right now.

"When guys are doing things that help everybody out, you're playing the right way and you're playing with those little details, it makes everyone's job easier, just makes the trust a lot better and the team keeps rolling," he said.

Moose Jaw needed all the momentum that they could muster from last weekend as they will now head out on their longest road trip of the season so far when they play four games in five nights in the Central Division.

Almeida said building off their momentum will be key to finding success on the road, "They're tough games and when you win those tough games, you just feel that much more confident and we have a pretty busy schedule coming up, so it gets us into the flow of things," he said.

The Warriors start their road trip on Wednesday night in Cranbrook, B.C. against the Kootenay Ice. They will finish with games in Edmonton on Friday, Red Deer on Saturday and Calgary on Sunday.

Trades in the East Division

Two East Division teams swung deals on Monday.

The Saskatoon Blades, who sit four points ahead of the Warriors for second place in the division, acquired 19-year-old defenceman Nolan Kneen from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for 19-year-old defenceman Jackson Caller and second and third round picks in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Regina Pats also got in on the action, as they dealt 20-year-old defenceman Aaron Hyman to Tri-City for 20-year-old Brett Clayton and a 2019 third round pick.
