The Saskatchewan Men's Curling Tour has an important stop here at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre this weekend.

Some of the best men's rinks in the province will be hitting the ice for the SCT Tour Spiel Friday through Sunday.

SaskTel Tankard-caliber rinks skipped by curlers like Rylan Kleiter, Brent Gedak and Brady Kendal will be duelling for $6,800 in purse and points on the SCT standings.

“We’ve got four junior teams as well,” said curling programmer Rhonda Wenarchuk explains what will be happening. “Our first draw is at 6:30 Friday and it should be a good event.”

The first matches will have Kleiter against Gedak, Shane Vollman against Shawn Meyer, Jason Jacobson against Andy Lloyd, Kent Zuravloff against Murray Stroeder, Kendal against Carson Ackerman, Brett Behm against Sam Wills, Travis Tokarz against Ben Gamble and Cody Sutherland versus Brad Heidt.

The rest of the tournament’s matches will be figured out as teams compete. Draws continue all weekend until the championship final Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

While there are a lot of SCT points involved, there is no direct berth from this bonspiel to the Tankard, which will be in Melville this year.

Tournament passes and day passes will be available at the curling centre.
