The Assiniboia Aces pushed the Moose Jaw Colts to the last inning before the Colts ended up winning 12-10 in Moose Jaw Ladies Fastball at Caribou Heights

In their first game of two Monday night, the U19 Aces took the lead in the top of the sixth inning but lost the game in the bottom of the sixth when Keri Legare hit a two-out double to score two.

Aces coach Trevor Peterson was happy with the way the girls hung in throughout the game against the much more experienced Colts.

"They're (the Colts)  a good hitting team," Peterson said. "So when you play a veteran team like that, the girls are learning a lot playing a team like that, which I think makes us a better team. It's a lot different than playing a U19 team because they've got that experience and they can hit the ball well."

Assiniboia took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth but the Colts' pushed across a couple of runs in the bottom of that inning. The Colts had a seemingly solid grip on the game in the bottom of the fifth when they added three more to take a 10-5 lead, but the plucky Aces picked up five runs in the top of the sixth.

That's when Legare's double scored Daleigh Lacelle and Mikayla Swallow from second and third. The game had to be called at that point on account of time due to the next game being scheduled at that time.

Swallow scored four runs in the game and pitched well in relief.

The Aces tied the second game of their two games Monday night 11-11 with the Heat. The Aces had an 11-10 lead into the bottom of the seventh and allowed the tying run to cross the plate, but struck out the final two heat batters to have the game end in a tie.

Kimberley Michelson reached base five times for the Heat with a pair of walks, and scored the game-tying run.

The league's next action is a doubleheader tomorrow night with the Colts taking on the Hustlers, and the Ice facing the Hustlers in a makeup game from last week.
