The Moose Jaw Astros are going into the playoffs on a high note.

Moose Jaw picked up a 16-4 win over the Regina Blue Jays on Tuesday night to finish their season in the North Regina Little League's Minor AAA Division with a first place record of 11-2.

The Astros will open the playoffs on Tuesday in Regina.

The Moose Jaw Mallards were unable to carry over the success from Tuesday's win over the Buffaloes to Wednesday night's game against the White Sox.

The White Sox rolled to a 9-1 win over the visiting Mallards in Baseball Regina Bantam AA Division action.

Regina struck for four runs in the first inning and then held that lead for the rest of the game. The Mallards finally got on the board in the sixth, but the White Sox answered with five in the bottom half to seal the win.

Sam Caplette led Moose Jaw with two hits in the loss, while Cam O’Reilly struck out six over two innings of work on the mound.

The Mallards are heading up to Saskatoon this weekend for a tournament. They return to league play on Tuesday when they host the White Butte Broncos at Swarbrick Diamond, first pitch is at 6:45 p.m.
