The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks continued their winning ways on Sunday night as they travelled into the Queen City and knocked off the Regina Shamrocks, 5-3, at Cooperators Centre.

The win improved the Mavericks record to 4-0 in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Two third period goals helped the Mavericks seal the win after a back-and-forth opening 40 minutes.

Mattea May had a goal and two points, while Ellie Gauvin, Sidney Ellingson, Taryn Sandbeck and Nikita Halyk also scored in the win for Moose Jaw.

Brooke Archer was in goal for the win.

The Mavericks will return to the ice on Saturday when they host the Balcarres Barracudas at the Bert Hunt Arena, puck drops at 2:45 p.m.

Busy Weekend for Atom A Red Warriors

The Moose Jaw Red Warriors hit the ice for three games in two days and tied all three games.

Carter Hudyma scored twice for Moose Jaw in a 3-3 tie against the Regina Blues, as the Red Warriors kicked off a tournament on Saturday.

The Red Warriors hit the ice against the Regina Capitals and skated to an 8-8 tie. Hudyma, Austin Smith, and Brodyn Pladson had two goals each in the tie for Moose Jaw, while Luke Pratte and Walker Strueby also found the back of the net.

Moose Jaw returned to the ice on Sunday for a league game against the Prairie Storm Lightning at the Balgonie Stardome, battling them to a 9-9 tie.

Hudyma finished off his big weekend with five goals and six points, giving him nine goals and ten points in three games. Smith also added a goal and three points in Sunday’s game, while Lachlan Clark scored twice and Nate Lewko added another goal.

The Red Warriors head to Regina on Friday night to take on the Shamrocks.

Peewee A Warriors Post Unbeaten Weekend

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors came out of the weekend with a win and a tie after two games in the Hockey Regina League.

Moose Jaw skated past the Regina Blues, 10-4, at the Mahon Arena in Regina on Friday night and then battled the Prairie Storm Thunder to a 7-7 draw on Sunday afternoon at the Bert Hunt Arena.

On Friday, Layne Gadd had a hat trick and five points to lead the way for the Warriors, while Tayden Hardwicke picked up two goals and three points, and Kai Spencer chipped in with two goals.

Luc Fafard also had a goal and two points, and Kohen Millar and Noah Thul found the back of the net during the six-goal victory for the Warriors.

In Sunday’s tie, Gadd led the charge again with a goal and three points, while Thul scored twice and Trehvan McMorris with a goal and two points.

Fafard, Hardwicke, and Donovan Harkness also scored in the tie.

The unbeaten weekend puts Moose Jaw’s record at a league-best 3-0-1 through four games this season. The Warriors are off until next Saturday when they face the Mustangs in Regina.

Peewee AA Warriors Split Against Weyburn

The Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors hosted the Weyburn Wings for a pair of games in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League on Saturday and Sunday in the Friendly City.

The Warriors skated to a 5-3 win over the Wings on Saturday night at the Bert Hunt Arena. Brycen Boughen and Chance Cole had two goals and three points each in the win for Moose Jaw.

Dylan Duzan scored the other goal for the Warriors, while Casson Silbernagel recorded the win in goal.

On Sunday, the Wings fired back with an 8-3 win over the Warriors at the Red Knight Arena. Boughen had two goals and Aiden MacDonald picked up the other marker for the Warriors in the loss.

Cameron Beisal took the loss in goal for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors are 2-4-2 through eight games this season. They don’t return to league play until Nov. 15 when they host the Estevan Bruins at the Bert Hunt Arena.

Midget A Warriors Open Season on Losing Note

The Moose Jaw Midget A Warriors hit the ice on Saturday and Sunday to open their season in the Hockey Regina League, however, they came out on the losing end in both contests.

The Warriors dropped a 6-2 game to the Regina Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at the Barkman Arena in Caronport. Brody Ramer had both goals in the loss for Moose Jaw.

On Sunday, the Warriors took one on the chin, falling 14-0 to the Notre Dame Hounds.

Moose Jaw will return to action on Friday when they host the Notre Dame Argos at the Barkman Arena, puck drops at 7 p.m.

Bantam AA Warriors at Graham Tuer

The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors took part in the prestigious Graham Tuer Bantam AA Challenge in Regina over the weekend, posting a 1-4 record over five games.

The Warriors opened the tournament on Thursday with a 5-0 loss to the Central Plains Capitals.

Moose Jaw came out on the losing end again in both games on Friday, dropping a 7-0 contest to the Regina Pat Blues in the morning and then falling 9-1 to the West Central Wheat Kings at night. Rowan Calvert scored the lone goal for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors found the win column on Saturday afternoon, beating the Notre Dame Hounds, 5-1, at the Cooperators Centre. Braxton Hooper had a goal and three points in the win, while Brennan Blatz and Mitchell Parr picked up a goal and two points each.

Jared Moran and Chase Jocelyn also scored for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors finished the tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to the Parkland Rangers on Saturday night. Parr and Mac Simpson each scored in the loss for the Warriors.

Moose Jaw is back on the ice in league play when they travel to White City to take on the Prairie Storm on Friday night at 7:45 p.m.
