The sun was shining for the annual Victoria Day Tournament at the Lynbrook Golf Club on Monday.

A total of 48 men and 11 ladies teed it up for the annual holiday tournament here in Moose Jaw.

On the men’s side, Leighton Bearchell came away with the title, shooting an even-par 71 to capture the title by three strokes over Craig Benson, who fired a 74. Bill McLean was third with a 75.

Debbie Firth won the Ladies title after posting a 92, which was 11 shots better than second place, Dianne Breton.

Adele Owatz was first in the low net division of the championship flight with a 79 to top Sharon Knittel by three strokes.

The ladies’ first flight was won by Bev Arnold with a 108, while Elsie Sapach came in second, shooting a 110. Lynn Chernoff took the ladies’ first flight low net with a 76, which was three shots better than Marie Spencer in second place.

Bob Desjarlais won the men’s first flight via retrogression over Brad Smith after they both shot a 78. The low net in that flight was Jim Swaok with a 72, he was two better than Ryan Pulai at 74.

The men’s second flight was decided by retrogression as well with Marv Maier edging out Tim Peakman after they both shot a 78. The low net in the second flight was Mike Fitzsimmons, who beat Rob Ritchie.

Retrogression was needed again to decide the men’s third flight with Keith Griffin taking the title over Bob Turnbull after they both posted an 88. The low net in the third flight was Don McDonald with a 71, which was one better than Chris Aparicio.

Matt Nobel won the men’s fourth flight with a 90, beating Bob Cobbe by three strokes. Jerry Palmer was the low net in that flight with a 67, which was two strokes in front of Bob Spencer with a 69.
