Friday was a special day for Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Josh Brook.

The 19-year-old signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens after a strong showing at their training camp over the past few weeks.

Brook was originally selected by Montreal in the second round, 56th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft. He made his Canadiens' preseason debut on Wednesday and then signed the deal on Friday morning.

Last season with Moose Jaw, Brook posted three goals and 32 points in 45 games. He has 15 goals, 82 points and is a plus-68 in 145 career WHL games.

After the big news for Brook in the morning, the Warriors received good news in the afternoon as the Canadiens reassigned Brook back to the WHL.

The Warriors opened their regular season on Friday night in Brandon. They host the Wheat Kings on Saturday night at Mosaic Place.
