Moose Jaw's Sawyer Buettner led the Regina Thunder to a massive win on Saturday in Winnipeg as they steamrolled the Rifles, 58-6, in Prairie Football Conference action at Investors Group Field.

The win improves the Thunder to 2-1 through three games this season.

Buettner completed 18-of-28 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns before giving way to Brock Sich, who went 6-of-6 for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Regina’s Kristopher Calcutt was the top target for the Thunder’s quarterbacks with six catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while Moose Jaw product Levi Paul hauled in four catches for 63 yards.

On the defensive side, Moose Jaw’s Daniel Bjorge had three tackles and a forced fumble, while Spencer Barrett posted one tackle for the Thunder.

The game was actually close after the first quarter with the Thunder leading just 10-6, but they exploded for 17 points in the second quarter and then 21 in the third quarter to open up a 48-6 advantage heading into the fourth.

The Thunder return to the field on Saturday when they host the Rifles at Mosaic Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
