Three games in three nights are on tap for the Moose Jaw Warriors this weekend as they look to continue to push towards the post season.

The Tribe opens the weekend in Medicine Hat on Friday night before returning home to host the Prince George Cougars on Saturday and then a rematch with the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

Moose Jaw heads into the weekend with a chance to surpass the Prince Albert Raiders for second in the East Division if everything falls into place.

Don't be mistaken either, the team knows what is on the line this weekend.

“There's six points on the board and three winnable games, so the boys are pretty confident going into this weekend and hopefully we can climb into second in the division,” said forward Jesse Shynkaruk.

While they're winnable games, the Warriors will also need to be on top of their game over the next three nights if they hope to accomplish their goal. Part of the battle will be staying fresh for each game and Shynkaruk said that comes down to preparation before and after each contest.

“Three-in-three is pretty tough on the body, but you've just got to stay in the routine, stay as fresh as you can, get a good stretch in after every game and make yourself as ready as possible for the next one coming up,” he said.

Moose Jaw will also have to deal with two teams that are pushing for a playoff spot with Medicine Hat sitting just on the outside of the two wild card spots, while Prince George sits three points out of second in the BC Division.

The Warriors will be tested against the Tigers, who bring a lot of speed and skill to the game. Moose Jaw is 1-1 against Medicine Hat this season.

“They definitely have a lot of speed, but so do we, so it will be a couple of fast games against them and hopefully we can come out with two wins,” said Shynkaruk.

“We've been playing pretty sound defensively lately, so we've just got to limit their speed and take away their time on the cycle in our zone, and we should be fine.”

Shynkaruk will be a key player for the Warriors down the stretch, just as he was last year at this time. Six of his 16 points on the year have come since the calendar turned to 2016, including a big goal during last Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Lethbridge.

“I don't know what it is about the second half, but hopefully I can just keep it going and keep producing here,” said Shynkaruk.

The Warriors will need their depth players to help carry the load as the games get tighter and tighter with the playoffs approaching. Shynkaruk and Tanner Jeannot have provided a nice combo for the Warriors on their third line.

“I love playing with Tanner, we're just two hard working guys that aren't afraid to jump in on the fore check and throw our bodies around to create some space for the other guys on our line,” he said. “We're going to look to keep that going.”
