Over 400 hockey players hit the ice over the weekend at the Plamor Palace here in Moose Jaw for the annual Atom B and C Tournament.

The champions were crowned on Sunday with the division title games happening at the Bert Hunt Arena.

In the ‘B’ Final, the Bassano Storm skated to a 3-1 win over the Lafleche Flyers. The Storm had knocked off the Saskatoon Renegade Storm in the semifinal earlier in the day, while the Flyers topped the Outlook Icehawks, 3-1 in the other semi.

The Moose Jaw Kings were the only local team to make it into the playoff round, falling to Outlook, 6-1, in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

The ‘C’ division title was won by the Swift Current Outlaws, who knocked off the Battleford Barons, 3-2, in the final on Sunday.

The third place game was won by the Gravelbourg Stars, 9-3, over the Medicine Hat Knights.

The Moose Jaw Atom AA Warriors have been rolling since the calendar turned to 2018 and they picked up their biggest wins of the season in the South East Minor Hockey League this weekend.

The Warriors went into Swift Current and handed the first place Broncos their first two losses of the season, winning 6-2 on Saturday and scoring late for a 4-3 win on Sunday.  Moose Jaw has now won six straight games.

The two wins push the Warriors into a tie with the Broncos for first place in the league with a 10-3-1 record on the year.

Next action for the Warriors is coming up on Saturday and Sunday when they head to Weyburn for a pair of games against the Wings.

The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors were on the wrong end of a pair of blow out losses over the weekend in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.

Moose Jaw lost 15-0 to the North East Wolfpack on Friday at the Kinsmen Arena and then hit the road to Prince Albert on Saturday where they lost 16-1 to the Pirates.

The Warriors are 0-22-0 on the year. They will travel to Weyburn on Saturday and Estevan on Sunday this coming weekend.

The Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors came out on losing end in their lone game this past weekend in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League, falling 7-3 to the Swift Current Broncos on Friday at the Red Knight Arena.

Rowan Calvert scored a pair of goals, while Liam Fitzpatrick had a goal and two points in the loss.

Moose Jaw falls to 4-13-2 this season. They will travel to Swift Current on Wednesday.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks had just one game this weekend, battling the Swift Current Ice Cats to a 1-1 tie on Friday in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Both goals came in the third period with Swift Current taking the 1-0 lead early in the frame and Jesse Mielke scored the game-tying goal for Moose Jaw with 5:21 to go in regulation.

Moose Jaw goalie Schay Camphaug was huge in the tie, turning away 36 shots for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks are 2-11-0 on the year. They will return to the ice on Friday, Jan. 26 when they host the Wood River Ice Cats at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Moose Jaw Bantam Mavericks suffered just their second loss of the season on Friday night, falling 7-2 to the Regina Tigers in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Tia Miller and Chelsey DeGagne scored for Moose Jaw in the first period as they led 2-1 after one, but the Tigers struck for six unanswered goals over the next two periods to pick up the win.

The loss drops Moose Jaw’s record to 14-2-1 on the year. They will travel to Regina on Tuesday night to face the Shamrocks, puck drops at 6:15 p.m. at the Cooperators Centre.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Mavericks were doubled up, 6-3, by the Weyburn Drillers during Saturday action in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

Taylor Mantel scored for the Mavericks just 1:16 into the second period to tie the game up at 1-1. Kaelyn Logan-Pemkowski put Moose Jaw in front less than seven minutes later, but the Drillers took the lead by the end of the period.

After the Drillers scored 44 seconds into the third period to take a 4-2 lead, the Mavericks answered with a goal from Devyn Davey, but that was as close as they were able to get.

Mavericks goalie Sydney Christmann turned away 23 shots in the loss.

The Mavericks return to the ice on Saturday when they host the Regina Capitals at Mosaic Place. Puck drops at 6 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Atom A Warriors dropped a 7-5 game to the Regina Buffaloes on Friday night in the Hockey Regina League.

The Warriors are 1-15-1 on the year.

After playing five games in 12 days, the Warriors are off now until Saturday, Jan. 28 when they host the Regina Shamrocks.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Warriors dropped a 10-0 game to the Regina Tigers on Saturday afternoon in the Hockey Regina League.

The loss puts Moose Jaw’s record at 2-14-2 on the year.

They’re back in action on Monday night when they travel to the Queen City to face the Regina Buffaloes. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the Cooperators Centre.

The Moose Jaw Midget A Warriors lost a narrow 2-1 game to the Notre Dame Argos on Sunday in the Hockey Regina League.

Hayden Russell gave Moose Jaw a 1-0 lead midway through the second period, but two goals just 1:04 apart in the third period allowed the Argos to skate away with the win.

Moose Jaw falls to 0-13-0 on the year with the loss. 

They will head back to Wilcox on Tuesday to face the Notre Dame Hounds at 5:45 p.m.
