Hockey Canada.Canada scored first for the first time in the tournament and controlled Switzerland on their way to a 4-1 win in the quarterfinals at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Edmonton Oil Kings defenceman Griffin Reinhart opened the scoring with two minutes to go in the first period and Canada never looked back.  Reinhart led the way for Canada with a goal and two points in his second game back from suspension.

A penalty shot goal by Anthony Mantha midway through the second period gave Canada some breathing room.  They needed it because Switzerland's Nico Dunner tipped home a goal with one second to go in the middle frame to make it 2-1.

Reinhart set up his Edmonton teammate Curtis Lazar early in the third period to make it 3-1 for Canada.  Weyburn's Derrick Pouliot iced the game for Canada with just under seven minutes to go on his first goal of the tournament.

Zach Fucale made his third straight start in the Canadian goal and wasn't really tested too much by the Swiss, stopping 19 of the 20 shots thrown his way.  Canada was efficient with their scoring opportunities, scoring four goals on just 23 shots in the win.

Canada will now face Finland in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:30am after the Fins knocked off the Czech Republic 5-3.  Russia and Sweden will meet in the other semifinal at 8:00am after Russia knocked out the Americans with a 5-3 win and Sweden topped Slovakia 6-0 to advance.
