Sporting a full lineup for the first time, Team Canada skated to a commanding 7-1 win over Switzerland on Thursday night in World Junior pre-tournament action.

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Quinton Howden made his return from injury, but was held off the scoresheet. Jonathan Huberdeau picked up an assist as he also made his first appearance for Canada.

WHL leading scorer Mark Stone, from the Brandon Wheat Kings, continued to have a hot hand for the Canadians picking up a goal and three points in the win.

Canada got goals from Devante Smith-Pelly, Boone Jenner and Stone to take a 3-1 lead after the first period. Freddie Hamilton extended that lead with the lone second period goal.

Smith-Pelly’s second of the game came just 35 seconds into the third period and put Team Canada up 5-1. Tanner Pearson and Ryan Strome would finish off the scoring for Canada.

They wrap-up pre-tournament action on Friday night in Edmonton against Sweden. Canada will then have a couple of days off before opening the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships on Boxing Day against Finland. You can catch that game live on Country 100.
