If the Canadians face a shootout during the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, they will be well prepared after Wednesday night.

It took nine rounds of the skills competition for Canada to finish off the U Sports All-Stars, winning 3-2 in Victoria during the first game of their three-game exhibition series as part of Hockey Canada's World Junior Selection Camp.

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Josh Brook was one of 12 players that sat out the opening game of the camp for Canada.

Oshawa Generals forward Jack Studnicka scored both goals in regulation for Canada, while Boston University forward Shane Bowers scored the shootout winner.

Team Canada will go up against the U Sports All-Stars again on Thursday night at the Q Centre in Victoria. Puck drops at 8 p.m. Sask time.
