Team Canada's fate is out of their hands as they prepare to wrap-up the round robin at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki, Finland.

Canada will take on Sweden on Thursday in their final round robin game, but they could already know their fate before they hit the ice.

Canada currently sits third in Group A, one point behind the United States, so a win by the Americans over Denmark on Thursday at 8:00am would give them second place in the group.

For the Canadians to finish in second place, they would need a Denmark win over the U.S. and a win over Sweden, who locked up first place with a 5-0 win over Denmark on Wednesday.

Canada hasn't found their stride so far at the tournament, starting with their opening loss to the United States 4-2. They won 6-1 over Denmark, but then needed a 3-2 shootout win to get past Switzerland, which put them behind the eight-ball in the race for top spot in the group.

Brayden Point, captain of Team Canada and the Moose Jaw Warriors, said that the team is working through their struggles and will get stronger.

“We're trying to change our attitude a little bit,” Point told TSN on Wednesday. “We came out slow against the Swiss and they made us pay for it, so we're trying to change our attitude a little bit and hopefully that helps in the Sweden game.”

Through three games so far, Point leads Canada with a goal and four points. His one goal was the shootout-winner against Switzerland, while all three assists came in the win over Denmark.

“My start has been okay, there's a lot more that I can give, but that goes for all of us, we've got better,” said Point.

“There's no excuses and hopefully we can just keep moving forward.”

Canada and Sweden meet at 12:00pm on Thursday to finish off the round robin. The medal round will begin on Saturday with the quarterfinals.

Warriors forward Jiri Smejkal and the Czech Republic finish off the round robin against Finland at 10:00am on Thursday.  The Czechs can secure at least second place in Group B with a win.
