The United States was too much for Canada in the bronze medal game at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Sweden.

Brayden Tracey, Daemon Hunt and Team Canada lost 5-2 to the Americans on Sunday to finish in fourth place. Canada has finished out of the medals at the tournament for four straight years.

Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens and Baie-Comeau forward Nathan Légaré scored for Canada, while Saskatoon Blades goalie Nolan Maier was forced to make 36 saves in the loss.

Jack Hughes, the projected first overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, finished with a goal and three points in the win to break Alex Ovechkin's record for most career points at the U18 Worlds with 32.

American forward Cole Caufield was also named tournament MVP after tying Ovechkin's record for most goals in a single tournament with 14.

Sweden went on to win gold on home ice, beating Russia 4-3 in overtime in the final on Sunday. It's Sweden's first Under-18 gold medal.
