Brayden Point and Mathew Barzal scored the only two goals of the shootout as Team Canada picked up a 3-2 win over Switzerland on Tuesday at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

The shootout win completed a comeback for Canada as they fell behind 2-0 in the first period on goals from Damien Riat and Edmonton Oil Kings' Dario Meyer. A bad angle shot went in for Dylan Strome with 23 seconds left in the first period to get Canada on the board.

The Swiss continued to play the Canadians hard, but Victoria Royals defenceman Joe Hicketts tied the game just past the midway point of the second.

Canada fired 16 shots on the Switzerland net during the third period, but couldn't find the go-ahead marker despite some good chances.

Strome was stopped to open the shootout before Point made a nice deke to beat Joren van Pottelberghe and put Canada in front. Barzal iced the game with an identical move to Point, while Mackenzie Blackwood stopped both shots he faced.

Blackwood ended 23 saves in the win for Canada, who moved into second place in Group A with five points. Sweden leads the pack with six points.

Canada and Sweden meet to finish off the round robin on Thursday in Helsinki, Finland with Canada needing a win in regulation to secure top spot in the group.

In other action at the World Juniors on Tuesday, Russia skated to a 4-1 win over Belarus.
