Josh Brook, Jett Woo and Team Canada's time is done at the 2017 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Slovakia.

Canada had a rough end to the tournament as they dropped their quarterfinal game against Sweden, 7-3, on Thursday.  This is the second straight year that Canada has missed the podium at the Under-18s.

Brook picked up an assist in the loss for Canada, which gives him (two assists) and fellow Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman Jett Woo (one goal and one assist) two points each in the tournament.

After going back-and-forth for much of the first period, Sweden’s Fabian Zetterlund jumped all over a stumble from Brook carrying the puck out of the zone and buried the opening goal of the game with three seconds to go in the opening frame.

Hamilton Bulldogs forward Matthew Strome tied the game at 1-1 just 1:58 into the second period, but Sweden took a 3-1 lead just past the midway point of the period with goals from Oskar Bäck and Jacob Olofsson.

MacKenzie Entwistle of the Bulldogs pulled Canada back within one just 1:04 after Olofsson’s goal, but Sweden restored their two-goal lead with a power play goal from Emil Bemstrom with just 22 seconds left in the second.

Olofsson picked up his second of the game 4:20 into the third period and Erik Brannstrom extended Sweden’s lead to 6-2 just over four minutes later.

Maxime Comtois got Canada back within three with just under six minutes to go, but Isac Lundestorm sealed the win for Sweden with 2:07 remaining in regulation.

Canada was out-shot 35-28 by Sweden, including 15-10 in the third period. Sweden went 1-for-5 on the power play, while Canada failed to convert on their lone chance.

The semifinals are on Saturday and the Gold Medal Game goes on Sunday.
