Team Canada's first real test of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship came on Monday night and they answered the call.

The Canadians skated past Finland – the defending gold medallists – with a 4-1 win at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Sam Reinhart led the way for Canada with two goals, while Anthony Duclair added a goal and two points and Max Domi posted two assists.

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Brayden Point had limited ice time in the win for Canada, serving as the 13th forward throughout the night. Canada rolled their top-two lines throughout the game and were able to limit the attack from Finland, holding them to 27 shots.

Zach Fucale picked up the win in goal, his second of the tournament. Canada has allowed just one goal in three games.

Reinhart scored early in the first and late in the second to give Canada a 2-0 lead before Artturi Lehkonen got Finland on the board with 1:34 to go in the middle frame.

Duclair gave Canada some insurance midway through the third period and a power play goal, Canada's second of the night, from Curtis Lazar with 5:35 to go in the game sealed the win.

Canada improved to 3-0-0-0 to keep top spot in Group A heading into their first place showdown with the United States on New Years Eve. The Americans knocked off Slovakia 3-0 on Monday and sit at 2-1-0-0.

Canada and the United States meet at 3:00pm on Wednesday in the final round robin game for both teams.

In Group B action on Monday, Sweden remained in first place with a 3-2 win over Russia, while the Czech Republic skated to a 4-3 overtime win against Denmark.

There's just two games on Tuesday as Germany hosts Slovakia at 7:00pm in Montreal and Switzerland battles Denmark at 4:00pm in Toronto.
