Five goals from five different players helped push Canada's record to 3-0 at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Canada skated to a 5-1 win over the Czech Republic on Saturday night in Vancouver to remain perfect heading into their New Year's Eve showdown with Russia to end the round robin.

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Josh Brook had an assist on Rimouski Oceanic forward Alexis Lafrenière's goal in the first period, which gave Canada a 3-1 lead after one.

Team Canada captain Maxime Comtois opened the scoring 6:03 into the game, but Ondrej Machala answered for the Czechs just 37 seconds later.

Canada went in front for good just past the midway point of the first period when Prince Albert Raiders forward Brett Leason scored his third of the tournament on the power.

Leading 3-1 in the second, Canada continued to pressure the Czechs and moved in front by three when Hamilton Bulldogs forward MacKenzie Entwistle scored with 5:19 left in the middle frame.

A power-play goal from Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds forward Morgan Forst midway through the third finished off the win for Canada.

Ottawa 67s goalie Michael DiPietro turned away 23-of-24 shots to earn the win between the pipes for Canada, while Brandon Wheat Kings goalie Jiri Patera allowed four goals on 20 shots over the first two periods in goal for the Czechs, who Canada outshot 30-24.

Canada now heads into the final game of the round robin with a win securing them first place. They take on the Russians at 7 p.m. on Monday.
