The Moose Jaw Canadians exploded for ten runs in the fifth inning and rolled to a 16-5 win over the Moose Jaw Giants at Memorial Field on Tuesday night.

Dane Roy hit two home run, including a grand slam in the fifth, to lead the charge for the Canadians in the all-Moose Jaw battle in the Rambler Park Fastball League.

The Canadians started fast in the game, hitting three home runs in the first inning. Roy hit a solo shot, followed by a two-run bomb by Riley Almasi and another solo home run for Bryce Crosbie.

The Giants fought back in the second inning with Todd Whitehead smacking a three-run homer and then Kurtis Brown led off the third inning with a home run to make it a 5-4 game after three.

In the fourth, the Canadians extended their lead to 6-4 when Jaxon Lewis came around to score and then the fifth inning happened with the Canadians collecting seven hits to score their ten runs.

Darryl Callaghan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, but it was too little, too late for the Giants.

Xavier Trembley picked up the win on the mound for the Canadians, while Dale Garthus took the loss for the Giants.

The Canadians are now 3-0-1 on the year, while the Giants are 3-1-0.

Both teams travel into Regina on Thursday with the Canadians going up against the Muskowekwan Pride at 6:45 p.m. followed by the Giants against Regina Silver Screen Sportswear at 8:45 p.m.

The Colts have started the season on a strong note as they picked up their second straight win on Tuesday night in the Moose Jaw Senior Ladies Fastball League.

The Colts up ended the Hustlers 8-1 at Caribou Heights to improve to 2-0 in the young season.

Kim Neithercut allowed just four hits and struck out three over five innings of work in the win for the Colts.

The Colts set the stage in the first inning with four runs and then they added two in the third and fifth innings to roll to the win.

Ali Gallagher went 1-for-1 with a double, two walks and three runs scored for the Colts, while Neithercut was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

The Hustlers got on the board during a three-hit third inning when Brittney Sperling came around to score.

Adrianna Phillips started for the Hustlers, allowing six runs on six hits over three innings. She struck out one and walked three. Rachelle Grado came on in relief for the final two innings, giving up two runs on three hits with two walks.

Next action is coming up on Thursday when the Minors host the Heat at 6:30 p.m.
