The Moose Jaw High School Senior Basketball League’s two out-of-town teams hit the court for a pair of games on Tuesday night in Caronport.

In the boys game, Assiniboia’s Logan Fettes scored a game-high 46 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Caronport Cougars rolled to a 96-77 win over the Rockets.

Fettes is now averaging a league-best 38 points per game this season.

Jude Shepard-Hills paced the Cougars’ attack with 25 points in the win, while Bryson Quilliams added 18. Ethan Douglas and Matt Adkins scored 12 points each and Breighdy Banerjee also hit double digits with 11 for Caronport.

The win is the first of the season for the Cougars, who now sit at 1-4 on the year, while the Rockets drop to a league-low 0-5.

The Assiniboia Rockets won a narrow 64-63 contest over the host Cougars in the girls game.

Alyssa Anderson led the Rockets with 13 points in the win, while Natasha Pomrenke scored nine and Kaitlin Feeley added eight.  Caronport’s Rachelle Kienle poured in a game-high 22 points in the loss, while Amaris Burghardt added 14 for the Cougars.

The win puts Assiniboia into third place in the league with a 2-3 record, while the Cougars drop into a tie for last with the Vanier Spirits at 1-4.

The senior basketball league returns to the court for a full four-game slate next Tuesday when Peacock hosts Assiniboia and Central heads over to Vanier.
