The curling sheets at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre were busy on Wednesday night as the Original 16 Cash League kicked off its 2017-18 season.

16 teams hit the ice for eight games on the opening night of action.

The tightest game of the night saw Stan Barnsley’s Tip-Top Roofing rink steal one in an extra end to win 8-7 over Ben Gamble and the KMS/Park Capital rink.

After falling down 4-0 after three, Barnsley scored three in the fourth, two in the sixth and two in the eighth to force the game to an extra end where they stole one for the win.

In other action on the opening night, Penny Barker and the BTN Chartered Accountants rink rolled to an 11-1 win over the Shaunna Fritzler rink.

Joe Gunnis and the EMJ Marketing rink scored a 9-1 win over the Barb Wallace rink.

Lorraine Arguin’s Easy Care Living rink secured an 8-1 victory over Patrick Ackerman and the Ackerman Ag Services rink.

Murray Stroeder’s Rob Garland Agro Inc rink scored four in the seventh end to picked up a 7-4 win over Bob Desjarlais and the Kal Tire rink.

Ryan Wenarchuk led his John’s Music team to an 8-3 win over Warren Marcotte and the Moose Jaw Fountain Tire squad.

Team Redgoat, skipped by Donna Ackerman, gave up four in the first end, but then scored points over the next six ends to pick up a 9-4 win over Wade Gary and the Protec Video rink.

Joel Jordison and the Seaborn Insurance rink opened the season with an 8-2 win over Ralph Courtnage’s Terra Grain Fuels rink.

The league plays every Wednesday night at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre in Mosaic Place.
