The Central Cyclones had a good night on the volleyball court as they hosted the Cornerstone Falcons in senior girls and boys action on Tuesday night.

Extracting a bit of revenge for their season-opening loss to the Falcons, the Central boys rolled to a straight set win over Cornerstone.

"I felt it was a pretty good game, we came in strong, had a good warmup and just executed, so it was good," said Central's Quinton Ross after the win.

While Central won in straight sets, the Falcons didn't make it easy on them as all three sets were lengthy. The Cyclones won 25-19 in the first set and then 25-20 in the second set before finishing off Cornerstone in the third set with a 25-21 win.

The win gave Central sole possession of second place in the senior boys league standings at 4-2, while Cornerstone dropped to 3-3 with the loss.

Ross said the win was good for the Cyclones, but they need to continue building off the work that they do in practice, "We had a bit of improvement on our passing, that was a little better this game, and we just need to keep working on our coverage for hitting," he said.

The Cornerstone girls started off the night by winning their first game of the season, beating Central in four sets.

The Falcons won 25-23 in the first set and secured a 25-17 win in the second set. The Cyclones pushed back with a 25-15 win in the third set, but Cornerstone was able to close out the victory with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

The win improves Cornerstone's record to 1-5 this season, while Central falls to 1-6.

There are two games on the court on Wednesday night as Peacock hosts BCA in girls action at 6:20 p.m., while Vanier welcomes in Avonlea at 7 p.m. in a boys game.

The Moose Jaw Junior Boys Volleyball League also hit the court on Tuesday night for a four-team round-robin at Vanier Collegiate.

The Central Cyclones had a strong night as they went 5-1 in their three games.

Eyebrow was the only other team to sweep two sets, as they beat the host Vikings in straight sets, 25-23 and 25-17. The Falcons also split against Peacock, winning the first set 27-25 and losing 25-22 in the second set, to finish at 3-3 on the night.

Peacock and Vanier both went 2-4 after they split their two sets with the Vikings winning 25-18 in the first set and the Toilers taking a 27-25 win in the second set.
