The Central Cyclones went into Assiniboia on Thursday night and handed the Rockets a 52-38 loss in the Moose Jaw High School Junior Girls Basketball League.

Quinn Barber led the way for the Cyclones with 11 points in the win, while Sabah Mohamed chipped in with seven.

Assiniboia’s Lakeda Peterson was the game’s top scorer with 16 points in the loss. Faith Collins added eight for the Rockets.

The win improves the Cyclones to 1-1 on the year, while the Rockets drop to 0-2.

The Rockets will return to the court on Monday when they host the Vanier Spirits in the final game before the Christmas break. Central will be back in action on Jan. 8 when they host the Peacock Toilers.

The junior and senior leagues will hit the court for games on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, to close out the pre-Christmas schedule.
