Whether we're closer to a work stoppage in the Canadian Football League or not, but the CFL Players Association held a strike vote this week ahead of a return to the bargaining table with the league next week in Toronto.

According to CFLPA Executive Director Brian Ramsay, 97.3 percent of the players voted 'yes' to strike.

"CFL players have voted 'yes' to their health and safety. Yes to proper care and rehabilitation for themselves and their teammates. And yes to a partnership with the CFL that recognizes the overall contributions and sacrifices players make for the game," Ramsay tweeted on Thursday.

"The CFLPA bargaining team is focused on working as hard as we can to get an agreement done before 2019 training camps open. That commitment has not changed."

Ramsay stated that almost every CFL player participated in the strike vote.

The league and players will be back at the bargaining table on Monday and Tuesday in Toronto. Training camps are scheduled to open in three weeks.
