The Moose Jaw Chiefs were able to get back on track over the weekend with a pair of wins to snap their three-game losing skid in the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League’s senior division.

Moose Jaw won 18-8 over the Saskatoon SWAT on Friday and then beat the Prince Albert Outlaws, 17-3, on Sunday afternoon.

The Chiefs now sit at 5-4 on the year. They return to the court on Saturday for a rematch with the Outlaws in Prince Albert.

The Chiefs trailed 1-0 early in the first period against the SWAT on Friday, but they put the pedal down after that to take a 7-3 lead after one.

They kept rolling after that, tacking on seven more goals in the second period for a 14-6 advantage heading into third.

Frank Davalos led the charge for the Chiefs with four goals and seven points, while Jeff Kitts registered a goal and seven points.

Carter Davis also had a hat trick and four points; Todd Doepker chipped in with a hat trick; Tanner Kittler posted a goal and four points; Kyle Dalgarno finished with one goal and three points; and Tucker Beattie finished with two goals and five points.

Mike North, Adam Baker and Bailey Bechtold registered a goal and two points each.

Chiefs 17 Prince Albert 3

The Chiefs were able to keep their roll going on Sunday with another lopsided win over the Outlaws.

Matt Lys scored 33 seconds into the game for the Chiefs and Davis added a goal later in the period as Moose Jaw led just 2-0 after one.

The offence really got going for the Chiefs in the second period when they exploded for 12 of their 17 goals to move in front 14-1 after two.

Davalos continued his big weekend for the Chiefs with two goals and seven points in the win. Beattie had a hat trick and four points, while Davis also found the back of the net three times in the win.

Doepker finished two goals and five points; Kitts and Mitch Adams posted a goal and four points each; Lys had a goal and three points; and Nathan McKenna scored twice.

Dalgarno and Thomas Spence chipped in with a goal and two points each.

Busy Saturday for MJ Lacrosse Teams

Moose Jaw’s novice, peewee and bantam lacrosse teams hit the road to Estevan for five games on Saturday in the South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League.

The Novice Mustangs 2 lost 7-5 to the Estevan Voltz 2 and won 15-3 over the Estevan Voltz 1, while the Novice Mustangs 1 scored a 6-2 win over the Voltz 2 and rolled to a 15-2 win over the Voltz 1.

The Peewee Mustangs rolled to a 9-2 win over the Estevan Voltz.

The Bantam Mustangs dropped both their games against the Voltz, falling 6-1 and 9-1.
