Four local motocross riders have had excellent seasons in the South Corner Racing Circuit.

Local motocross association president Doyle McMorris was pleased with the way they raced this season.

“The year itself was excellent and for them to get it going, they went through the right channels with the government and got the OK to do it,” said McMorris. “For my boys, it was their first year racing, and Carter Hudyma as well. Ethan Thedroff has been racing for a couple of years now. But they were all excited and happy to be doing a sport that they love and being allowed to go during COVID.”

Trehvan McMorris finished fourth in the 85 cc class, and fifth in the supermini, while Rhyker McMorris placed 11th in the 65 cc class. Hudyma placed tenth in the 85 class, and Thedroff placed sixth in the 50 cc class.

McMorris said all four racers are looking forward to racing in the circuit again in 2021.

“They’re all in, even to the point where hockey wasn’t their main concern,” McMorris said. “All they want to do is be on their dirtbikes. They can’t wait for next year... They’re looking forward to next year and getting some buddies into it. They’re all in and enjoyed the heck out of it.”

The SCRC typically races in the southeastern corner of the province, with races this year in Estevan, Carlyle, Alameda and Weyburn, as well as Assiniboia. McMorris is looking at the possibility of hosting an event here in 2021.
