More people will be out for outdoor tennis in the coming weeks.

The return to play request was granted to tennis clubs by the province a month ago and allowed up to ten people on the courts at once, but that recently went up to 30.

The tennis club won't be able to host large tournaments like they have in the past, said club president Barry Taylor.

“We can have our own league nights, and little mini-tournaments … where we would make a draw each evening, but we’re still restricted from tournaments,” he said. “Moose Jaw normally hosts one provincial seniors tournament each year, and because there’s food and other services are available at that time, that would be restricted at this time.”

Taylor said they aren't even sure if they'll be able to do their club championships later this summer.

Also annually, the club has held singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships in August every year, and Taylor isn't sure if that will be able to happen this year.

“We would need the rules to loosen a little bit from where they are now to allow us to do that tournament, even internally,” he said. “There generally would be more than 30 people at the court at any given time to be able to do that.”
