Rykr Cole had two goals and four points for the Genearls in their 5-4 win over Tisdale on Saturday.

Rykr Cole’s two third period goals helped the Moose Jaw Generals get back into the win column on Saturday night.

They opened a two-game weekend with a 5-4 win over the Tisdale Trojans at Mosaic Place, but needed a late goal from Cole to secure the victory.

Cole put the Generals in front 4-3 just under six minutes into the game, but Tisdale was able to tie it up with seven minutes to go in the game on a goal from Tyler Olson.  The Generals went on the power play with 5:10 to go in the game and Cole was able to strike for the go-ahead, and eventual game-winning, goal.

Cole finished with two goals and four points in the win, while Donovan Neuls added four assists.

There was plenty of action in the first period with Moose Jaw taking a 3-1 lead by midway through the frame.  Caleb Riess scored on the power play just under two minutes into the game; Tisdale’s Tanner Nagel tied the game four minutes later; but then Jared Legien and Shane Collins gave the Generals a two-goal advantage.

Back-to-back goals from Rylan Freed, one late in the first period and the other midway through the second, tied the game at 3-3 going into the third period.

Colby Entz wasn’t busy in the Generals goal, making 17 saves, while Moose Jaw through just 23 shots on Trojans goalie Kye Steinke.

The Generals’ power play was very effective in the win, going 3-for-8, while penalty kill was 7-for-8.

The Generals will be back on the ice on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm against the Beardy’s Blackhawks at Mosaic Place.
