It was a windy day on the golf course for 14 golfers taking part in the High School Golf Conference Championship on Tuesday at the Hillcrest Golf Course.

The Boys Title went to Peacock's Nathan Corrin after he fired a 74 in the windy conditions.  He beat his teammate Leighton Bearchell by seven strokes for the title.  Central's Bevin Hudson finished third, shooting an 83.  All three qualify for districts.

Corrin says it was tough playing in the wind, "Especially the last four, or five, holes.  Up until then it wasn't bad, but then you got going into the wind and it was really bad.

"I thought I was playing bad for probably the first nine holes, but then I found out how everyone else was playing then, it wasn't as bad.  I still don't think I played as well as I could have."

With wind gusts hitting up 75 kilometres an hour during the round, many of the golfers struggled during their rounds.

On the Girls side, Brioney Montgrand from Peacock won the title to advance to districts and teammate Meghan Kardash will be joining her after placing second.

Montgrand says the wind made things difficult on the course, but you just had to battle through it, "When we got up to the higher numbers, around hole 10, it started to get more windy, but you can only get better from here and hope for better at districts."

The entire Peacock team also advanced to districts after winning the overall team title with a combined score of 238, Central was second at 251 and Vanier came in third with a 284.

Districts go on Saturday at the Habour Golf Club in Elbow.
