One step down, one left to go for the Central Cyclones and Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars.

Both local teams won their semi-final games on Friday at Hoopla 2019 in Saskatoon, advancing into their respective provincial championships on Saturday.

The Cyclones are into their third straight 4A boys provincial final after beating the North Battleford John Paul II Crusaders, 88-62, in their semi-final game on Friday afternoon.

Central held just a 23-11 advantage at halftime, but they turned it on offensively in the second half to pull away for the win.

Riley Seaborn led the Cyclones with 15 points in the victory.

Central will now face the Weyburn Eagles in the provincial final on Saturday after Weyburn won 84-78 over Notre Dame in the other semi-final. The Eagles are the two-time defending provincial champions with back-to-back wins over the Cyclones.

They will tip-off in the provincial championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Centennial Collegiate in Saskatoon.

The Cougars, who entered the tournament as the number one seed, pulled off a dominating 79-38 win over the Melville Cobras in the 3A girls provincial semi-final on Friday.

BCA was led by 24 points from Lilly Matthies during Friday afternoon’s win.

The Cougars will go up against the Lumsden Angels in the provincial final on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Evan Hardy Collegiate.

The Peacock Toilers will be playing for bronze in the 4A girls division after they lost 70-49 to the Melfort Comets in semi-final action on Friday.

Emily MacKenzie scored a team-high 16 points in the loss for Peacock, who will now face Notre Dame in the bronze medal game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Centennial Collegiate.
