It was a wild day at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts for team Saskatchewan yesterday at Mosaic Place

The Robyn Silvernagle rink won an extra end tiebreaker in the morning against New Brunswick, followed it up with an exciting 9-7 win over PEI in the championship round in the afternoon, and then seemed to run out of gas against Wildcard Jennifer Jones, losing 8-3.

Silvernagle admitted there were mental and physical errors from her team by the end of the long day.

“You’re third game of the day, you’re going to definitely have both mental and physical fatigue,” Silvernagle said. “Jen probably had that edge on us having just the one game… and they came out firing.”

Saskatchewan third Stefanie Lawton said be the end it was a long day for the Saskatchewan team, who are now 5-and-4.

“We couldn’t quite get the breaks and they were making fantastic shots,” Lawton said. “They’re great players, of course. They play an aggressive game, we know that we’re going to be in tough for that game. We just weren’t on the right side of the inch tonight.”

Jones, meanwhile, won twice Thursday and are 8-and-1 on the week so far.

“I feel like we had a really good day today,” Jones said. “We played well and made some big shots when we had to, and made precise shots, which is what you want to do. Big day tomorrow, but all in all a really good day today.”

In the other scores in the Thursday evening draw, Ontario's Rachel Homan also improved to 8-and-1 with an 8-4 win over Canada's Chelsa Carey rink. Carey falls to 4-and-5.

Manitoba's Kerri Einarson moved to 8-and-1 also with a 9-4 win over 5-and-4 PEI, and Northern Ontario won 7-6 in an extra end over BC. Krista McCarville is 6-and-3 and B.C.S Corryn Brown is 4-and-5.

Friday’s afternoon draw will see Saskatchewan against Rachel Homan., while the evening draw pits Saskatchewan against B.C.
