Adam Evanoff made 28 saves Friday to record his first WHL shutout in a 4-0 win over the Victoria Royals at Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena.

The Warriors were slow out of the gates in the opening period.  They weren’t clean coming up the ice on the attack and they had several turnovers inside their zone which led to extra attack time for the Royals.

Victoria pressed Moose Jaw throughout the opening twenty minutes and had a 13-4 advantage on the shot clock.  Warriors’ goalie Adam Evanoff was sharp as he kept the game scoreless after the first period.

Moose Jaw finally found their stride in the second period as they outshot the Royals 15-10 in the period and they were able to finish on quality chances that they worked hard to create.

At 9:27, Justin Almeida stripped the puck away from the Royals behind their net.  The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect made a quick pass from behind the net to Tristin Langan in the low slot where he one-timed the puck past Griffen Outhouse for his 34th of the season.

Shortly after scoring the game’s first goal the Warriors landed on the power play and they used this opportunity to pick up the pace.

Just as the Royals got back to even strength, Justin Almeida had the puck in the left circle and made a cross-ice pass to Brayden Tracey in the bottom right circle.  Tracey angle the puck towards Langan on top of the crease where he tipped in his second of the game.

Back on the man advantage with under three minutes left in the period, Josh Brook had the puck in the right circle and made a tight pass to Justin Almeida in the left circle.  Almeida then played the puck to the top of the Royal crease where it went off of Langan’s skate to make it 3-0.

Three minutes in to the third period the Warriors added to their lead when Matthew Sanders made a hard pass from the right point down to Keenan Taphorn driving the net where he put a backhand past the goaltender for his 11th of the year.

Throughout the rest of the third period, the Warriors buckled down defensively and didn’t give the Royals much.

Moose Jaw outshot Victoria 10-5 in the third period and 25-15 in the last forty minutes and went on to the 4-0 win.

Tristin Langan had the hat-trick and Justin Almeida picked up three assists.  Moose Jaw was 1-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors will head back to the mainland Saturday to take on the Vancouver Giants to wrap up a 4-game in 5-day schedule during the road trip.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 8:40 pm with James Gallo.
