The Cornerstone Falcons had an up-and-down start to provincials on Friday, but remaining just one win away from the playoff round.

The Falcons went 1-2 on the opening day of the 3A Boys Volleyball Provincial Championship in Preeceville.

The tournament started with Cornerstone falling in straight sets to top ranked Oxbow.  They dropped a close first set, 25-21, but the second set got away from the Falcons as they fell, 25-8.

The Falcons bounced back in their second game of the day, but it took them a set to get going against Rosthern Junior College.  Cornerstone dropped the first set, 25-21, but rebounded to win the second set, 25-19.

The third set was a back-and-forth battle with the Falcons coming away with a 29-27 win to take the match.

Cornerstone went down in straight sets in their final game of the day, falling 25-17 and 25-22 to Island Lake.

The Falcons will finish the round robin against Kipling at 11:00am on Saturday.  The playoff round starts at 12:30pm with the final at 5:30pm.
