Coming out of their Annual General Meeting at the end of November, the Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball League recently announced some changes to their executive board and their registration start date.

Craig Hemingway was elected the new board president, while Jody Brown will take over as the board secretary. The other three board positions remained unchanged with Vice-President Troy Rusu, Treasurer Cindy Simmons and Commissioner Shawn Okerstrom heading into their second of two years in each position.

Hemingway said that they will be focusing on continue the work done by the board over the past few years.

“This is my third year being involved and it’s a wonderful organization that’s all designed around making Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball exciting and fun for everyone that plays, coaches and umpires too,” said Hemingway.

The league has been doing well over the past five years with registration numbers staying level.

“We had similar numbers this past year as we did the year before and we’re hoping to have at least that many, if not more, in the new year,” said Hemingway. “We’re hoping that moving our registration date up will encourage signups.”

The registration date has been changed so that players are able to sign up for the 2018 season as of Jan. 1.  Registration fees will also remain the same as 2017 ($150 plays $50 for fundraising) until Feb. 28, after which they will increase by $50.

You can register online by heading to mjfastball.ca. The season will start in the spring.
