Fastball fields around Moose Jaw saw plenty of action on Thursday night.

There were four games at Optimist Park in the Moose Jaw and District Minor Girls Fastball League, one at Caribou Heights in the Senior Ladies Fastball League, and a Rambler Park Men’s Fastball League game went at Lyle Helland Memorial Field.

With the regular season winding down in the minor league, the Explosion pulled off a 16-12 win over the Slammers in the Under-12 Division.

While in the Under-14 Division, the Twisters toppled the Panthers, 14-2; Davidson pulled out a 11-10 win over the Magic; and the Gators downed the Royals, 9-2.

Coming up on Friday night, the Crush face the Cubs in U12 action, while the Twisters host the Royals in a U14 game. Both hit the field at 6:30 p.m.

Caribou Heights has been busy over the past two nights with three games.

On Wednesday, the Hustlers pulled out a 12-5 win over the Colts and then dropped a 4-2 game to the Heat in a doubleheader.

Tanya McLean was 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and five RBI, while Sheri Logan added two-run single in a five-run second inning for the Hustlers which helped propel them to the win over the Colts.

In the second game, Heat pitcher Kristen Gomersal kept the Hustlers in check to pull out the close win. She allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out four over seven innings.

Shayle Freeman had three RBI in the win for the Heat.

On Thursday night, the Colts scored nine runs in the sixth inning to move in front 10-7 on Assiniboia, who struck back with three in the seventh to finish in a 10-10 tie.

Assiniboia scored once in the second, three times in the fourth, twice in the fifth and added one more in the sixth to take a 7-1 advantage on the Colts.

The local squad didn’t go away, however, and had eight straight batters reach base to bring around nine runs and take the lead. 

Nic Whitehead and Jade Waiting were both 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

The Moose Jaw Canadians rolled to a dominating 12-1 win over the Best Buds in four innings on Thursday at Lyle Helland Memorial Field.

Riley Almasi hit a three-run home run during a four-run first inning for the Canadians. Bryce Crosbie added a two-run shot in the second inning as Moose Jaw moved in front 6-1.

The Canadians blew the game wide open with six runs in the third inning and Xavier Tremblay pitched a 1-2-3 fourth inning to finish off the win.

Blake Dixon was the winning pitcher for the Canadians, allowing just one run on three hits over the first three innings.
