This past weekend at the Barkman Arena in Caronport, the Dustin Ernest Hockey Camps hosted its first-ever Saskatchewan Female Prospects Showcase.

This was a weekend of scrimmaging and an opportunity for females to display their talent for scouts and potential teams.

Besides SaskFirst this was the first of its kind for female athletes here in Saskatchewan.

The showcase attracted interest from five teams. Girls from Carrot River to McCord and everywhere in between traveled for the event.

Moose Jaw Warriors assistant coach, and the first female WHL coach, Olivia Howe helped conducted a skills session on Friday night and helped with the showcase throughout the weekend.

On Sunday a few games were live-streamed for friends, family, and scouts who couldn't be in attendance over the long weekend.

Organizers said they really didn't know what to expect with it being the first event, paired with the waiting and uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions, but everything turned out better than expected.
